Parents are too protective about their children and they try their best to keep danger out of the way of their kids. If any trouble comes the way of their children, they are there to shield the kids. However, when misfortune strikes hard and fate has its own plans, we humans become powerless and in spite of trying hard we cannot escape the claws of destiny.
Disaster struck the Shoemake family when their son Leland was faced with life threatening illness. Amber and Tim’s son Leland loved to spend time in the dirt and this is probably the reason which caused his death.
According to a news channel report, Leland was battling for life after the amoeba called Balamuthia mandrillaris got into his body and infected him resulting in the swelling of his brain.

The source and time when the amoeba entered into his body has not been determined but the CDC reports state:
“Balamuthia is thought to enter the body when soil containing Balamuthia comes in contact with skin wounds and cuts, or when dust containing Balamuthia is breathed in or gets in the mouth.”
The child was having high fever accompanied with vomiting, headaches and diarrhea. This made Amber and Tim know that their son was having serious health issues. Later, his mother saw that he was having crossed eyes and was finding it hard to concentrate on anything.
They soon got him admitted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where their son breathed his last.
It was unbearable for the parents and they were with their son through it all. Finally, they reached home to arrange for the funeral and while they were taking out clothes in which their son was to be buried, they found this note in their living room.
Both of them were clueless as to when he wrote that and how it was placed there, but this will help them know that their son is always with them.
Amber posted on the social media, “He was the light of our life and the center of this family. I count the days until I can see his sweet face again and hear that beautiful voice.”
