Something unusual happened at the Russian Safari Park, where Amur the tiger had an unexpected visitor in his enclosure.
The staff at the Safari who looked after the big cat would feed him a live prey every once in a while. Amur would happily hunt the smaller animals until the officials left this goat in his enclosure. He just refused to kill the goat.
Timur, as they have now named the goat displayed no signs of fear when encountered with the gigantic carnivore. With an air of nonchalance, he even went on to oust Amur from his bed.
The Siberian Times reported that an official at the Safari said:
“The goat showed no inkling of fear, eyeballed the tiger, and took over his shelter. Our tigers get live prey twice every week, and Amur knows very well how to hunt goats and rabbits. But recently he came across a goat that he refused to hunt.”
In a report by the Daily Mail, it stated that the name Timur means iron and the goat sure does have a heart of steel. It is also speculated that “We think that the goat had never come across tigers and so didn’t know that he should have been scared of them”.
They further added:
“Amur the tiger is quite cautious by nature, and decided not to go to the trouble of hunting Timur. But the brave goat not only saved his own life. He also kicked the tiger out of his bedroom and is sleeping on Amur’s ‘bed’ for the fourth night.”
The care takers noticed that the two had developed a close proximity and even went out on walks. Though Timur is the one following Amur, one might feel it is actually the goat that is in charge.
If this unusual story of friendship between the tiger and the goat made you smile, do share it with friends and family.
